Rabbit Vaccination Requirements 2020

For your rabbit to be able to board at Crumpets they require 2 vaccinations which are 2 separate injections.

  • Vaccine 1: Nobivac Myxo-RHD – Combined Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 1.
  • Vaccine 2: Filovac RHD2 or Eravac– Viral Haemorrhagic Disease Strain 2, this is not covered by the combined vaccine.

These vaccines cannot be administered at the same time and should be given 2 weeks apart, Nobivac and Filovac or Eravac need to be given in the last 12 months to board.

VACCINE 1

Nobivac RHD – Should be administered annually (every 12 months) from the age of 8 weeks. If your rabbits vaccination has lapsed more than 1 month from its due date or your rabbit has not been vaccinated before the vaccine must be given at least 21 days prior to boarding.

VACCINE 2

Filovac/ RHD2 – Should be administered every 6 months in high risk areas or 12 months in low risk areas.

Or

Eravac – should be administered every 12 months. Boosters should be given 2 weeks prior to boarding due to its common side effects.

Due to the way this disease is spread both indoor rabbits are at risk as much as indoor rabbits. This is a fairly new vaccine but RHD2 has been in the UK since 2014 and is now wide spread and confirmed cases have been diagnosed in London, Essex, Surrey, Herts and Twickenham.

If your rabbits vaccination has lapsed more than 6 weeks from its due date or your rabbit has not been vaccinated before, Nobivac Myxo-RHD must be given at least 21 days prior to boarding, Filovac VHD or Eravac 14 days prior to boarding.

Rabbits not meeting these requirements will not be permitted to board as an outbreak of these diseases on our premises could potentially takes us out of business for 205 days,  you will still be liable for full boarding costs.  See our Terms & Conditions.
